Happy Thanksgiving to one and all. And happy birthday Mom! Every few years, Thanksgiving falls on my mom’s birthday. The last time this happened, I ditched the family shortly after our Thanksgiving feast and drove down to First Mariner Arena to see the P. Diddy and the Family concert. Sorry, mother! I’m older and wiser now.

I came across a blog post over at Adpunch, talking about Coke’s new bottle packaging for the movie release of Quantum of Solace. I admit that I’ve never seen a James Bond movie, but this bottle is pretty cool. This package is available in Great Britain. I wish Coke would release bottles back in the States.

Honey Bunches of Oats cereal has a stupendously long story about its history on the back of the box. I’ve never had this cereal. I’m not sure how it even ended up in my kitchen. The story is rather boring, and doesn’t offer the personality that the company’s current ads showcase.

Here’s a clever ad from Vespa. The long and short of it is that with a Vespa, you can easily avoid a police road block and escape without a scratch. Why? Because it is small. The concept is clever and the illustration adds something (I don’t know what) to the feel of the ad.

Do I really have favorite words? I’ve come up with a short list, and most of them are silly, “giggle” words. And the winners are…
Ginormous
Bullocks
Glacial
Befuddled
Conundrum
Strategery
Dunder Mifflin
Bunghole
I particular like “glacial” because of how I heard it used in a sentence. The phrase is from the movie “The Devil Wears Prada” when Glenn Close’s character says “By all means, move at a glacial pace.”

Steve Concotelli, a freelance Editor living in Los Angeles put together this amazing narrative that previews the adventures of the Goonies as they face the Pirates of the Caribbean in their search for One-Eyed Willie. I found this movie trailer some time ago, and watch it every once it while. The quality is top-notch and it makes me wish this movie really existed.

The name Meshell Ndegeocello was brought up in class. Since this singer blew up in my prime (which, sadly, was about 20 years ago), I thought it curious that I was laughed at when I pronounced her last name.
For the record, I did pronounce it correctly. It really isn’t that difficult. Meshell Ndegeocello is pronounced MEE-shell n-deh-GAY-o-chel-o. Instructions for pronouncing the name is all over her debut album, Plantation Lullabies.
If you haven’t had the chance to hear Meshell’s music, I highly recommend it. It takes me back.

One of the best books I’ve ever bought is “The Art of The Lion King”. Using rough sketches, watercolors, and movie stills, the book tells the entire story the movie through art.
There are words throughout the book of course, but the star of this book is the art.
I have two copies of this book: a small, pocket-size copy and a large, heavy coffee table copy. The small one is nice, but the artwork in a larger format just blows me away.
